Ultra Mindset Lab

Fortnightly live mindset coaching for ultrarunners

What Ultra Mindset Lab is

Ultra Mindset Lab is a fortnightly live Zoom session where we train the mental side of ultra running the same way we train the physical side:

With clarity, structure, and honesty.

Each session includes:

  • A focused mindset topic relevant to training and racing
  • Practical frameworks you can actually use
  • A downloadable worksheet to lock the lesson in
  • Live Q&A where you can ask about your training, your races, your head noise
  • Replay access if you can’t attend live

No generic advice.
No motivational fluff.
No pretending mindset issues disappear if you “just believe harder”.

Perform closer to your true ability

Race with more composure and less emotional chaos

Train consistently without overthinking every session

Straight, practical coaching

Ultra Mindset Lab

You train your legs with structure.
You fuel with intention.
You plan your races carefully.

Yet most ultrarunners still lose time, confidence, and momentum because of how they think — especially when they’re tired.

Ultra Mindset Lab exists to fix that.

This is not motivation.
It’s not positive thinking.
And it’s definitely not therapy.

It’s mental skills training for ultrarunners who want to think clearly, stay composed, and execute better when it matters most.

The problem most ultrarunners don’t want to admit

You don’t fall apart because you’re weak.

You fall apart because:

  • You panic when things don’t go to plan
  • Doubt creeps in and hijacks your decisions
  • One bad patch turns into a mental spiral
  • You train hard, but sabotage yourself on race day
  • You attach your self-worth to outcomes you can’t fully control

And none of that gets fixed by running more kilometres.

The mind needs training too.

This is for you if…

✔ You’re an ultrarunner who wants to perform closer to your true ability
✔ You’re tired of repeating the same mental mistakes
✔ You want to race with more composure and less emotional chaos
✔ You want to train consistently without overthinking every session
✔ You value straight, practical coaching

This is not for you if:

  • You want hype or emotional pumping-up
  • You want someone to tell you everything will be fine without doing the work
  • You aren’t willing to look honestly at how you think and behave

Topics we work through (examples)

The content evolves based on what runners need, but common themes include:

  • Staying calm when the wheels wobble
  • Managing doubt mid-race
  • Making smart decisions under fatigue
  • Training when motivation disappears
  • Handling bad sessions without spiralling
  • Cut-off stress and time pressure
  • Comparison and self-sabotage
  • Detaching self-worth from race outcomes
  • Mental patience in long races
  • Racing with intention, not emotion

This is mindset for performance and longevity, not just one good race.

  • Feedback
  • Context

Ultra Mindset Lab gives you all four, every fortnight.

About the coach

I’m Isobel Tait, head coach at Peak Endurance Coaching.

I’ve coached ultrarunners through:

  • Missed cut-offs
  • DNFs
  • Comebacks
  • Breakthrough performances
  • Big mountain races
  • Long, ugly races where nothing goes right

And I’ve lived it myself, including some of the hardest races in the sport, Barkley marathons being one of them.

Everything taught in Ultra Mindset Lab comes from real coaching, real racing, and real experience, not just theory pulled from a book. However, theory is also important. I'm also a certified Mindset Coach, as well as certified Life Coach. I will help you achieve your race goals through improved mindset.
